Bhubaneswar: Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar has been declared as ‘no flying zone’ and ‘no drone zone’ in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Odisha next week.
The restrictions are part of the Prime Minister’s security arrangement during his visit to Janata Maidan, where he is scheduled to launch Odisha government’s ambitious Subhadra Yojana and several other projects on September 17.
“As the Prime Minister will visit Bhubaneswar to launch the programme at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar, the venue of the event has been declared no flying and no drone zone as part of the security measures,” said a senior official.
It may be noted that Modi is scheduled to visit the capital city on his birthday on September 17 to launch the Subhadra Yojana, the state government’s flagship scheme for the welfare of women, as per BJP’s poll promise.
Meanwhile, a team of the elite Special Protection Group (SPG) officers is already in Bhubaneswar to take charge of the Prime Minister’s security ahead of his visit to the state capital.
While a thick security blanket will be thrown over and around the venue of the PM’s event, SPG will be responsible for providing proximate security from his arrival at the airport till his departure. The SPG team is also to visit the Janata Maidan venue to review the security arrangements.
Ahead of the PM’s visit, a high-level meeting was held in Bhubaneswar on Friday to discuss the preparations for tour where the Chief Secretary reviewed the security arrangements. The DGP and IGP have been entrusted with maintaining law and order and overseeing security arrangements. The Khurdha district Collector has been directed to make necessary arrangements for the event.
Similarly, to officials of the departments of Home, Women and Child Development also visited Janata Maidan on Saturday to take stock of the preparations. Senior police officials were also present at the site where security arrangements were reviewed.
