Tirtol MLA & Girlfriend Apply For Marriage In Sub-Registrar Office In Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur

Jagatsinghpur: Tirtol MLA Bijay Shankar Das and his girlfriend Somalika Das applied for marriage registration at sub-registrar office, here on Tuesday.

Bijay, the son of senior BJD leader and former minister late Bishnu Das, was in relationship with Somalika for a long time. Both belong to Jagatsinghpur district.

A few days back, differences cropped up between the two and Bijay expressed his reluctance to get marry to Somalika. Following this, Somalika released some of their intimate pictures on the social media. As a result, there was pressure from different quarters on Bijay to patch up with Somalika.

With the mediation of their lawyers, both agreed to get married legally. They arrived with their lawyers at the sub-registrar office on the day and signed on the application form for marriage registration in presence of witnesses.

Speaking to mediapersons on the premises of the sub-registrar office, Somalika’s lawyer said families of neither Bijay nor Somalika accompanied them to submit the application. The application would be processed within one month and registration certificate will be issued thereafter, she added.
