Titlagarh Sizzles At 45.5°C, IMD Issues Heatwave Warning For 5 Odisha Districts

Bhubaneswar: While Titlagarh town in western Odisha district continues to be the hottest place for the second consecutive day at 45.5 degree Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued a yellow warning for intense heatwave in the five districts of the state.

The national weather agency, in an evening bulletin, said that the intense heatwave will prevail in the districts of Balangir, Kandhamal, Sonepur, Boudh and Angul for three days till May 26. Keeping this in view, the people have been advised to take special care of the infants and the elderly with chronic diseases and ensure that they are not exposed to the heat.

Apart from Titlagarh, mercury went past 40 degree at 12 places in Angul (41.3), Jharsuguda (42.2), Sambalpur (42.6), Hirakud (42.2), Talcher (43.8), Bhawanipatna (44.2), Balangir (43.5), Phulbani (41.4), Malkangiri (43), Sonepur (42.2), Boudh (42.5) and Paralakhemundi (42).

The IMD has said that the maximum day temperature will to go beyond 40°C in some areas of interior region and 2-3°C in the remaining areas of the state in the next three days.
