Toddler Abducted From Govt Health Facility In Odisha’s Balasore Rescued

Balasore: A one-and-a-half-year-old boy, who was allegedly stolen from Soro Community Health Centre (CHC) in Odisha’s Balasore district, was rescued from Adivasi Basti at Court Chhak late on Thursday.

According to sources, the mother of the child, Pratima Murmu of Dhipasahi village, accompanied by her sister, an advocate, had visited the CHC for death certificate of a family member. Upon their arrival, the advocate asked Pratima to hand over her son to a woman present at the CHC. She complied after initial hesitation. They then proceeded to the first floor of the CHC to complete the necessary paperwork for the death certificate. On coming downstairs, Pratima failed to locate the woman and her son. She searched the CHC premises but to no avail. She then lodged a complaint with police, which traced the toddler to Adivasi Basti at Court Chhak.

Efforts are on to nab the woman, who had fled with the child, the sources added.
