Baripada: In an incident that is nothing short of bizarre, a three-year-old was reportedly married to a dog in Baria village under Sukruli block in tribal dominated Mayurbhanj district.
According to reports, the toddler daughter of Bibhishana Chatar, had two crooked teeth. Considering it a bad omen, her family got her married to a dog on the final day of Mage, a tribal festival, as per tribal tradition.
What is more, the villagers even attended the wedding and blessed the newlyweds.
The report further says that the village is dominated by tribal people who have unusual and interesting rituals. While these rituals seem odd to mainstream society, they are commonly accepted among tribal society and that is why no one opposed the marriage.
