Rourkela: Unidentified miscreants looted Rs 7.80 lakh from a toll plaza employee near Jhagarpur in Rourkela on Tuesday evening.
According to sources, the toll plaza employee was on his way to deposit money in a bank when three bike-borne miscreants intercepted his motorcycle and attempted to snatch the bag containing cash at gunpoint. When the victim resisted, the robbers hit his head with a pistol and decamped with the money.
Basing on the complaint lodged by the victim, police have detained a person for questioning in connection with the loot.
Police suspect that involvement of the security guard and other employees of the toll plaza in the incident as the loot was committed a few minutes after the victim left to deposit the money in bank.
