Mumbai: Tom Holland couldn’t hide his excitement as he received a roaring welcome from fans during the India premiere of ‘The Odyssey’.
Overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response, the actor thanked the audience and praised their unmatched energy. “No one brings energy like you,” Holland said amid loud cheers from the crowd.
Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ made history by becoming the filmmaker’s first movie to premiere in India.
Nolan, an Oscar-winning director, attended the Mumbai premiere alongside stars Holland and Matt Damon. The trio interacted with the audience after the screening.
“I would like to say from the bottom of my heart — thank you for always welcoming us with such open arms, with such happiness and excitement, grace and love,” Holland told the audi
ence.
Appreciating the unmatched energy that Indian audiences bring to movie theatres, Holland said: “I think no one brings energy to a movie theatre like you do here in India. Thank you for supporting us. Thank you for enjoying Chris’ amazing work. I cannot wait for this movie to be seen by everyone.”
Recalling his previous shooting in Jodhpur and Mumbai, filmmaker Nolan said, “Indian audiences is some of the most knowledgeable, enthusiastic cinematic audiences in the world.”
Talking about the audience reaction, Noland said: “The audience tells you what it is. And that means that for us, this is an exciting moment, but a very frightening moment, because it’s real. There’s nothing to hide behind. We made this film for a theatrical audience, and it goes out in the world as that. And we’ll see what the world makes of it.”
Nolan, Holland and Damon arrived at Mumbai’s iconic Taj Mahal Palace hotel earlier in the day for ‘The Odyssey’ premiere.
Holland greeted the paparazzi with a smile and waved at them as he entered the hotel.
Based on Homer’s legendary Greek epic, ‘The Odyssey’ follows Odysseus (Matt Damon) as he embarks on a long journey home after the Trojan War.
Along the way, he encounters gods, monsters and other mythical creatures, testing his bravery and resilience.
The film also stars Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o and Charlize Theron in important roles.
