Tomatoes Hurled At Jeypore Municiplity Office Over Tax Collection Irregularities

Jeypore: A group of Congress activists hurled tomatoes at Jeypore Municipal Corporation office in Koraput district, protesting the alleged irregularities in tax collection.

“The municipality officials have been imposing unnecessary taxes on the local residents. We demand that the civic body should collect taxes genuinely from the people as per previous practice, failing which the agitation will be intensified in the days to come,” an agitator said.

Adequate police personnel have been deployed at the spot to prevent further escalation of tension.
