Toolkit Case: Just Because I Speak To A Secessionist Doesn’t Make Me One, Disha Ravi Tells Court

New Delhi: A Delhi court reserved its order on climate activist Disha Ravi’s bail plea on Saturday, and set February 23 as the next date of hearing.

Disha was arrested from Bengaluru in the Greta Thunberg toolkit case on farmers’ protest last this week and sent to three-day judicial custody by the court on Friday.

The 22-year-old activist reiterated that the cause she works for is to save the environment.

“There is no disaffection being spread by the toolkit. It is just a digital document. My history has nothing to do with Khalistan. My connection is not with Sikhs For Justice or PJF. In this case, it is clear that thinking otherwise is attracting sedition,” lawyer Siddhartha Aggarwal told Justice Dharmendra Rana on Disha’s behalf.

“I have no connection with the Khalistan movement, whatsoever. There is no single chat or conversation between me and the (banned organisation) Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) produced by the Delhi Police,” argued the activist through her lawyer.

She also contended that speaking to a secessionist did not make her one.

Delhi Police has alleged that Disha is closely connected to Poetic Justice Foundation (PJF), an organization which supports Khalistan movement, and also claimed the toolkit to be a part of a larger “sinister design” to defame India. They strongly opposed Disha’s bail plea.
