Phulbani: Disillusioned by the activities of top Maoist cadres, a woman member quit the outfit and surrendered before the police in Kandhamal district on Sunday.
Speaking to media persons, Kandhamal SP Vinit Agarwal said the woman Maoist, Kanti Mallick, had joined Kandhamal-Kalahandi-Boudh-Nayagarh (KKBN) division of the outlawed CPI-Maoist in 2018. She has been working as its active member since then.
Kanti revealed to the police that top cadres of the banned outfit used to torture the women members and indiscriminately kill innocent people in gross violation of the Maoist ideology. Frustrated by such activities, she decided to quit and return to the mainstream of the society.
The SP said as per the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the state government, she will be provided financial assistance and training to earn her livelihood.
