Bhubaneswar: The eco-friendly toy train once again left the Nandankanan Zoological Park authorities red-faced as it stopped midway on Wednesday.
According to sources, the toy train carrying around 20 visitors was moving around the zoo in its last trip of the day when it stopped midway due to technical snags. As the train passengers were left stranded, the zoo authorities made necessary arrangements and brought them from the spot in special vehicles to the station.
Later, the zoo authorities clarified that battery failure led the train to halt midway. It was brought to the station after minor repair, they added.
They also said the dry run of the toy train will be conducted on Thursday without visitors and decision on the resuming its services will be taken after assessing the condition.
It may be noted that the toy train was launched on October 8 after a gap of nearly 8 years. But its engine caught fire during a ride on October 15 reportedly due to short circuit in the battery. Around 60 visitors onboard the toy train had a narrow escape.
