Berhampur: Saumya Ranjan Lenka, an employee of TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL), recently completed a 640-km journey, raising awareness about the benefits of solar energy.
Lenka embarked on the bicycle journey on October 15 from Jeypore in the Koraput district, and pedalled through Nabarangpur, Bhawanipatna, Balangir, Boudh, Kandhamal, Bhanjanagar, and Aska, before arriving in Berhampur on October 22.
During his journey, he reached out to many people and visited various schools to promote the adoption of solar energy under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and to raise awareness about adhering to electrical safety regulations. He shared awareness slogans and also sang self-composed songs on safety regulations.
In Berhampur, Lenka also initiated a signature campaign, collecting signatures from numerous people, including students, whom he met along the way.
“We have one Earth, one Sun. We can gift a green and beautiful world to the next generation. To achieve this, we must embrace clean and green energy. Moreover, we must always follow electrical safety guidelines while using electrical appliances. My aim is to extend this awareness campaign across Odisha in the coming days,” he said.
Appreciating the efforts, TPSODL’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Amit Kumar Garg, said, “TPSODL has been promoting the use of solar energy across southern Odisha. Saumya Ranjan Lenka’s innovative effort not only reflects his role as an employee but also demonstrates the responsibility of a conscious citizen towards the environment. TPSODL remains committed to promoting solar energy and ensuring consumer safety.”
