Track Cyclone Yaas Live By Using These Sites & Apps

Bhubaneswar: Cyclone Yaas is at the doorstep. Here is how you can keep yourself updated on the cyclone’s path and other developments.

Follow the map Cyclone Yaas Live Path. It has been created by Esri India, an Indian Geographic Information System (GIS) Software & Solutions provider. The map is built with ArcGIS Online, Esri’s mapping and analytics system, and provides updates on the cyclone and relevant elements using inputs from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

These include weather, wind speed, number of households and population in the affected area. The map is consolidating the information from various authoritative feeds and sources for an integrated view of the movement and impact of Cyclone Yaas, The Indian Express reported.

How does it work?

Simply use a browser and go to the dedicated Cyclone Yaas Live Path page. The page is optimised to run properly on desktop browsers and phones.

What will you get?

Users will also get relevant information on affected areas by zooming into the map. This includes shelter locations, weather and wind station data from buoys and even infrared/colourised satellite imagery, the report added.

“The objective is to give a common view to relevant authorities, departments and social organisations in order to maximize reach-out to citizens so that there is timely action for the safety of life and property. The Cyclone Yass Live Path Map is specifically created to provide updates leveraging Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology,” Agendra Kumar, Managing Director, Esri India was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

UMANG app
This app made by the government shows all IMD department services, including real-time tracking of the cyclone.

Windy.com
This is a very interactive website that lets you track cyclones, severity, location according to different agencies. It has very detailed options.


RSMC website
The Regional Specialized Meteorological Centre for Typical Cyclone Over North Indian Ocean or RSMC is a dedicated website for cyclones and also shows real-time tracking.

IMD Mausam 
This website developed by the Ministry of Earth Sciences also lets you track cyclones in real-time.
