Khurda: The driver of a tractor was killed after being hit by an
unidentified vehicle at Tapanga Chhack in Khurda district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Sarbeswar Sundaray, a resident of
Naranagarh village.
Peeved over the incident, a group of local residents staged a road
blockade near the accident spot demanding compensation for the family
members of the deceased and action against the driver of the vehicle
who fled the spot soon after the mishap.
Owing to the blockade, scores of vehicles remained stranded on the road.
Being informed about the incident, police reached the spot and
pacified the agitators with an assurance that the matter will be taken
to the higher authorities.
