Bhubaneswar: With a a large number of devotees thronging Lingaraj temple on the occasion of Maha Shivratri, the Commissionerate Police has made elaborate security arrangements and imposed traffic curbs to ensure hasslefree darshan at the shrine.
An advisory has been issued by the Commissionerate of Police regarding restrictions on vehicular movement and traffic diversion on roads leading to the 11th century Shiva shrine, police said.
The curbs have been clamped to ensure that the devotees and other commuters do not face difficulty in reaching the shrine. The aim is to enable them to have a smooth darshan at the temple and perform the rituals.
As per the traffic advisory announced by the police, vehicles, including four and two wheelers, proceeding towards Lingaraj Temple from Rath Road and Punarna gate side will be diverted from Badheibanka square towards BM High school ground for parking. No heavy vehicles will be allowed to ply on Rath Road from Mausima Temple Square side.
Vehicles moving towards Lingaraj Temple from Kedar Gouri Temple and Sanitarium Chowk side may avail Koti tirtha lane via Kacherapindi Chhak and park their vehicles at vacant space at northern side of Ananta Basudev Temple and at rear side of Taranga club respectively. The three-wheeler owners can park their vehicles at available space near the rear side of Ananta Basudev Temple.
Vehicular movement through Koti Tirtha lane will be made one way from Sidhi Mandap Lane side. The vehicles (four and two-wheelers) coming from Samanatrapur will be allowed via Sri Ram Nagar only emerging at substation square where they will be diverted towards northern side of Ananta Basudev Temple and rear side of Taranga club for respective parking.
Three-wheelers can be parked at available space near rear side of Ananta Basudev Temple.
Buses from Samantarapur side will be parked inside BMC new market complex. Vehicles coming from Keuta Sahi side towards Lingaraj Temple will be diverted from Kedar lane to BMC market complex/Ananta Basudev parking and other designated parking places via sub-station square.
Vehicles moving from Tara Sundari road towards Lingaraj Temple will not be allowed up to Badheibanka Chhak and will be diverted from Municipality Hospital to BM High school ground for parking, the advisory added.
