Traffic Cop Attacked By Transgenders In Bhubaneswar, 2 Held

Bhubaneswar: In a daring act, some transgenders allegedly assaulted a traffic police personnel in broad daylight at the busy Bargarh Gandhi Chhak in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

Two transgenders have been detained by the police in connection with the incident.

Sources said the transgender persons were seeking alms from motorists during a red light stop near the traffic post. When a traffic personnel intervened and asked them to refrain from doing this, they allegedly dragged the cop from the police vehicle and mounted an attack. The scene has been recorded on CCTV cameras installed in the nearby area.

Following the incident, female police personnel reportedly reached the site and apprehended two transgenders allegedly involved in the assault. The two are being questioned as part of the investigation.

Locals complained that some transgender persons allegedly harass motorists who refuse to give them money at the traffic post.
