Traffic Regulations Issued For Visitors To Puri On New Year: Know Revised Routes

Puri: Puri district administration in Odisha has geared up to ensure to hassle-free visit of tourists and devotees to the Pilgrim Town on New Year. Besides tightening the security arrangement, it has drawn up a set of regulations to manage heavy traffic of vehicles.

As per the arrangements made for traffic management, the buses coming from Bhubaneswar on the National Highway will be allowed to go to Municipality Bus Stand through Atharnala, Banamber Chhaka and Nrusingha Temple Chhak on old Nabakalebar road. The buses from Brahmagiri will be allowed through Mangalaghat Chhak upto Jatiababaji Chhaka. The buses coming from Konark will come to the bus stand via Grid Station Chhaka, Balighat, Maitapada level crossing and Nrusingha Temple chhak.

Simlarly, the inter-state buses from Bhubaneswar will park at Malatipatapur Bus Terminal while those coming from Konark will come through Baidas Nagar & ROB and park at Malatipatpur Bus Terminal.

The Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) coming from Bhubaneswar will go upto Grand Road through Batagaon, Atharanala, Kumbharapada PS, Jatiababaji Chhak, Narendra Kona and park at Jagannath Ballav Parking place. These vehicles will return via Jagannath Ballav, Biseswari Chhak, Devighat Chhaka, Mangalaghata Chhak and by-Pass.

The bike riders from Bhubaneswar have been advised to come to Grand Road through Atharnala, Banamber Chhak, Old Nabakalebar Road and Matiapada Chhak and park at Saradhabali Parking Place. They will return via Badasankha, Redcross Road, railway station, Ram Temple, Srikhetra Colony, Helipad Chhak, PKRIT Chhak, Bhudan chhak, Grid Station chhak then towards Malatipatpur through ROB.

The bikers coming from Konark will reach Saradhabali via Grid Station, Balighat Chhak, Matiapada Chhak and return in same route.

The administration has announced the following places as no vehicle zones in the town:

  • Light House Chhak to Subash Bose Chhak
  • Subash Bose Chhak to Jhadewswari Chhak (One Side of Road)
  • Jhadeswari Chhak to Madical Chhak
  • Acharya Harihara Chhak to PKDA Chhak via Town Hall Chhak
  • Kumbharapada to Medical Chhak (Old Jail Road)
  • Market Chhak to Badasankha via Medical Chhak
  • Jagannath Temple to Market Chhak on Grand Road
  • Mochisahi Chhak to Jagannath Temple on Dolamandap Sahi Road
  • Solakhia Baragacha Chhakto Jagannath Temple on Balisahi Road
  • Brushav Chhak to Ganduachaura Chhak

The administration has appealed to the visitors to dial helpline number 6370967100 in case of any assistance for movement of vehicles.
