Bhubaneswar: Traffic restrictions will come into force in some parts of Odisha capital from 6.20 am on Monday due to the six-day visit of President Droupadi Murmu.
To ensure security and seamless travel for the President’s motorcade, the Commissionerate Police have announced no-entry zones and temporary halts on key routes during specific time windows on select days.
Key restrictions include
February 2: From 6:20 pm to 6:55 pm, no vehicles will be permitted on the route from Airport Square to Hospital Square via AG Square, including the left turn toward Lok Bhavan Square.
February 3: Between 8:15 am and 8:45 am, traffic will be halted on the route from Lok Bhavan Square to
AG Square, with the right turn toward Hospital Square and Airport Square closed.
February 6: Multiple time slots have been notified due to the President’s movements in the city. Traffic will stop from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm on the Airport Square–Hospital Square–AG Square route, including the left turn to Lok Bhavan Square. From 3:55 pm to 4:25 pm, restrictions will apply along the Lok Bhavan Square–Power House Square–120 Battalion Square–Shastri Nagar Square–Behera Sahi Square–Jaydev Vihar Square–XIMB Square stretch. Additionally, from 5:15 pm to 5:50 pm, vehicles will be barred on the reverse route: XIMB Square–Jaydev Vihar Square–Behera Sahi Square–Shastri Nagar Square–120 Battalion Square–Power House Square–Lok Bhavan Square.
The Commissionerate Police has advised commuters and residents to avoid these routes during the restricted hours and use alternative roads wherever possible. People have also been asked to plan their journeys in advance, allowing extra travel time, and to cooperate fully with on-duty traffic personnel to minimise inconvenience.
The restrictions, however, will not apply to emergency services such as fire tenders and ambulances.
“We request the co-operation and support of the members of the public to ensure the success of the event and maintain smooth traffic flow in the city,” it added.
