Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Monday issued a traffic advisory for the state-level Republic Day parade at Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar on January 26.
The restrictions will be imposed keeping in view the probable traffic congestion around Mahatma Gandhi Marg on that day as a large number of people from and outside the state capital are expected to throng the city to witness the parade. VIPs and other dignitaries may also attend the event. In addition, the rehearsal parade will be held on January 22 and January 23 from 2 pm to 5.30 pm and on January 24 from 7 am to 10.30 am at Mahatma Gandhi Marg, an official notification said.
TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
>> No heavy vehicle will be allowed on Janpath from Ram Mandir to Rajmahal and vice versa from 6.30 am onwards till the parade is over. The light vehicles will allowed to ply on Janpath but from Master Canteen Square. No vehicle will be allowed on Mahatma Gandhi Marg from 6.30 am onwards till the parade is over.
>> No vehicle will be allowed towards Rabindra Mandap from Housing Board crossing from 6.30 am onwards on January 26 and will be diverted at Keshari Talkies crossing towards the left side lane.
>> No vehicle will be allowed to move towards PMG Square from AG Square side from 6.30 am onwards on January 26 and instead diverted from Jaydev Bhawan crossing towards Idcol auditorium.
>> Vehicles coming from 120 Infantry Battalion crossing will be diverted towards Unit 4 at MLA Colony crossing from 6.30 am onwards on January 26.
>> All the lanes touching Mahatma Gandhi Marg shall be scaled and only pedestrians will be allowed.
The restrictions on traffic movement will also be imposed during the Rehearsal Parade on January 22 and January 23 from 2 pm to 5.30 pm and on January 24 from 7 am to 10.30 am. Selling of gas balloons is strictly prohibited along the stretch between PMG Square and Master Canteen Square on January 26 from 6.30 am till the parade is over.
PARKING PLACES
The VVIPs will come on Janpath up to Master Canteen from where they will move to the designated parking space.
