Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police have imposed restrictions on traffic movement from 7 am on Sunday in view of the idol immersion procession of Goddess Kali in Odisha’s Cuttack city.
According to the advisory, no vehicle will be allowed on the traditional immersion route from College Square to Devigada via Buxi Bazar, Tinikonia Bazar, Chandni Chowk, Choudhury Bazar, Jaunliapati and Firingi Bazaar. Similarly, vehicular movement is restricted on the main road stretching from Chandi Chhak to Chandni Chowk via Shaikh Bazar and Mohammadia Bazar.
Around 70 idols of Goddess Kali were worshipped in different puja pandals in the Millennium City this year. The medhas will be taken out in procession on the traditional route for immersion after Sahi Parikrama, according to sources.

While the restrictions will continue till the end of the immersion ceremony, these won’t apply to police, fire brigade, excise, ambulance and other emergency vehicles. Any violation will invite a fine of Rs 500 to Rs 1000.
