Patna: It was one of the most anticipated events in the Indian film industry — the trailer launch of Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’.
It was a unique event, too, as the makers decided to unveil the trailer at an outdoor venue. And that, too, in eastern India.
From the time Allu and Rashmika landed at the airport, the enthusiasm of crowds was palpable.
Patna’s Gandhi Maidan was the chosen place for the Sunday evening blockbuster event. The demand for entry passes far outnumbered the supply.
Despite massive security being deployed at the venue and its vicinity, fans turned up in thousands to catch a glimpse of Allu and Rashmika. Though there was arrangement for 10,000 people to attend the trailer launch, there was almost double that number who were interested.
Those who could not get close enough, climbed on to structures erected near the venue. Many more tried to shove and jostle their way towards the main stage.
Their frenzy resulted in a stampede-like situation, as evident from videos posted on X:
‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ is the sequel to Sukumar’s 2021 film ‘Pushpa: The Rise’. It’s the story of Pushpa, a daily wage worker who goes on to become a red sandalwood smuggler.
