Bhubaneswar: The double train line on Sagadapata-Tangiriapal stretch in Odisha’s Keonjhar district of Jaroli-Jakhapura Super Critical Doubling Project has been opened for train movement from March 3.
The East Coast Railway (ECoR), in a release on Sunday, said train movement on the 17.79 km long double line stretch was allowed after getting clearance from Commissioner Railway Safety (CRS). The CRS issued its approval after inspecting all safety angles for smooth train operations.
After the super critical rail project is commissioned, it will boost the existing traffic facility for transportation of goods (mostly iron and manganese ore) as well as passenger traffic. Transportation of iron and coals to the nearest ports of Dhamara, Paradeep and Visakhapatnam will be easier, said the ECoR.
This Railway Section connects iron and manganese rich areas in Keonjhar district with the nearest ports as well as many steel plants.
Bansapani-Jaroli-Daitari-Tomka-Jakhapura doubling project is about 180 km. While the sanctioned cost of the project is Rs 1826 crore, 124 km has been completed by February 2023. CRS has approved to run trains maximum by 90 KMPH in the newly commissioned Sagadapata-Tangiriapal section. This section has six major and 46 minor bridges.
CRS AM Choudhury along with Deputy CRS BSK Subudhi had inspected the project. AP Dwivedi, Chief administrative officer of ECoR, Khurda Road Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Rinkesh Roy, Chief Bridge Engineer Brajesh Mishra, Executive Director/RVNL SK Patra along with senior officials of ECoR were present during the inspection.
