Rayagada: Train service was temporarily hit after track men detected a gap at the joint of a rail track at the Singapuram Road railway station, about 10 km from the Rayagada railway station in South Odisha, on Thursday morning.
According to sources, a railway track inspection team noticed a big gap at the joint near the Singapuram Road railway station. The team the alerted the driver of Durg-Visakhapatnam Passenger train who stopped the train midway.
The train later left for its destination within half-an-hour after the team repaired the gap.
Asked about the incident, station master of Rayagada railway station said such gaps at the joints at times occurs as the railway line usually contracts due to intense cold.
Similar incident had taken place on December 25 last year when the track inspection team had noticed a gap at a joint near Rayagada railway station and halted Hirakhand Express.
