Train Services To Puri Suspended For 75 Days? ECoR Fact-Checks Misinformation



Bhubaneswar:  The East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Wednesday flagged misinformation being circulated on social media, claiming that train services to Puri will remain suspended for 75 days.

It clarified that only three pairs of trains will remain cancelled during the period, while another 15 will be short-terminated/short-originated at Birpurushottampur, Malatipatpur, and Sakhigopal. “All other 40 pairs of trains will continue to run to and from Puri as per their existing schedule without any change,” it stated.

The ECoR advised passengers and the general public against falling for such misinformation. “For accurate updates, kindly check official railway websites or inquire at railway stations,” it

added.

On Monday, it had announced cancellation of three pairs of trains between March 14 and May 16 in view of infrastructure upgradation project at Puri railway station to enhance passenger amenities and operational efficiency.

These include:

• 02839 Shalimar–Puri TOD Special will remain cancelled on March 15, 22, 29; April 5, 12, 19, 26 and May 3, 10

• 02840 Puri–Shalimar TOD Special will remain cancelled on March 16, 23, 30; April 6, 13, 20, 27 and May 4, 11.

• 08012 Puri–Bhanjpur TOD Special will remain cancelled on March 15, 20, 22, 27, 29; April 3, 5, 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, 2 and May 1, 3, 8, 10, 15.

• 08011 Bhanjpur–Puri TOD Special will remain cancelled on March 14, 19, 21, 26, 28; April 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 25, 30 and May 2, 7, 9, 14, 16.

• 68409/68410, Khurda Road–Puri- Khurda Road MEMU, will remain cancelled from March 15-31, April 1-30 and May 1-15.
