Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Friday informed about movement of trains in Odisha after Cyclone Dana’s landfall in the earlier hours.
Puri-Bangiriposi Intercity Sf Express is the first train to leave Puri at 1630 hrs. 20808 Amritsar-Visakhapatnam Hirakud Express was the first train that passed through Talcher Road after the cyclone. Bhadrak-Paradeep departed from Bhadrak at 1530 hrs. 22824 New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani express was the first train after the cyclone that departed from Bhadrak towards Bhubaneswar at 1525 hrs.
The ECoR had earlier informed that trains scheduled to originate from Bhubaneswar and Puri in Odisha, except those notified as cancelled in view of Cyclone Dana, will commence after noon.

As many as 203 trains either originating or passing through Odisha in Brahmapur-Bhadrak section of Howrah-Chennai Main Line including Branch Lines towards Puri, Paradip, Dhamra, Keonjhar and Talcher were cancelled to ensure safety of passengers in the wake of Cyclone Dana, which struck Odisha coast as a severe cyclonic storm with winds speeds of 110 kmph in early hours of Friday.
The cyclone also affected some railway infrastructure in Jakhapura- Jaroli, Nergundi- Bhadrak, Haridaspur-Paradip and Cuttack-Paradip rail sections and those have been restored. “Railway teams have been deployed in the vulnerable locations for continuous monitoring of the railway assets. Patrolling teams are still working in the sections. Major yards, bridges, minor bridges and vulnerable locations are constantly being watched for any situation due to the heavy rainfall,” the ECoR added.
