Bhubaneswar: An elephant, shot with tranquiliser darts, woke up and attacked a team of officials in the forests of Khurda, leaving them critically injured.
The incident took place near Gayabandha village under Jankia police limits on Sunday night.
Five injured forest officials were admitted to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.
A herd of elephants has been creating havoc in Khurda and Tangi forest divisions.
After being informed about the presence of the jumbo, several forest officials reached the spot. The animal was fired with tranquiliser darts. It, however, regained consciousness and attacked the officials.
