Berhampur: Following protests from medicos and activists, the government has put on hold its order to transfer eight doctors from different departments of MKCG Medical College and Hospital here.
On Friday, the members of the junior doctors’ association sat on a dharna to protest against the frequent transfer of doctors and even threatened to intensify the agitation. Several doctors were reportedly transferred from the medical college last month without filling up the vacant posts.
Following this, the heads of departments were told by the medical college authorities not to shift the doctors until further orders.
The dean and principal of the college decided on the status quo after holding discussions with additional secretary, health and family welfare department and also in view of the proposed visit of the National Medical Council (NMC) team to inspect its infrastructure, sources said.
