Dhenkanal: Police have registered a case against a youth for allegedly betraying a transgender after maintaining physical relationship on pretext of marriage in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.
As per reports, the youth, identified as Diptimaya Maharana of Rajakulakateni village under Kamakhyanagar police station, was working as a delivery boy for a food aggregator. He came in contact with Sanjana Behera a year ago.
As their relationship developed, they were staying together in a live-in relationship in Bhubaneswar. Diptimaya promised to marry Sanjana and exchanged garlands in a temple some time back. He also took money and ornaments from Sanjana on some pretext or other on several occasions.
When Sanjana insisted on marriage in court to legalise their relationship, Diptimaya assaulted her and fled.
Following the incident, Sanjana filed a complaint at Kamakhyanagar police station. The police have registered a case and launched a manhunt to trace Diptimaya.
