Transgender Stabbed To Death Near Uttara Chhak In Odisha’s Puri



Bhubaneswar: A transgender was allegedly stabbed to death by an unidentified assailant near Uttara Chhak in Odisha’s Puri district on Sunday evening.

According to sources, the victim, identified as Anjali from Salepur who was working as a yoga instructor at Bhubaneswar, was found lying in a pool of blood near Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA) along NH-316 connecting Bhubaneswar with Puri. I

t is alleged that some youths attacked Anjali with sharp weapons after an argument, leaving them seriously injured. They then contacted their friends, who reached the spot and immediately rushed them to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, where doctors declared them dead.

The incident sparked protests and heightened tension at the hospital, where members of the transgender community gathered and sought arrest of those responsible. A friend of the deceased recounted that the victim had called at 8.17 pm seeking urgent assistance, stating they had been stabbed but could not identify the attackers.

Pipili police are examining CCTV footage and other evidence to identify the perpetrator and determine the motive. The victim’s mobile phone has also been seized, and call detail records are being analysed.
