Transgenders Included In Odisha Govt’s Pension Scheme

Bhubaneswar: The state government on Thursday included transgenders in the beneficiary list of Madhu Babu Pension Yojana.

A notice issued by Women and Child Development department said a transgender person will be eligible to the government’s pension scheme on the condition that he/she must have a certificate of identity issued under Section-6 of the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019.

The person’s income from all sources should not exceed Rs 40,000 per annum in order to be eligible to avail pension. Besides, the person or his/her family should not be income tax payer or government servant.
