Bhubaneswar: Perhaps for the first time in the history of the country, the transgender community has come to the forefront to espouse a social cause.
It has happened in Odisha. The state’s transgender community recently launched an awareness campaign in Odisha’s tribal areas to spread awareness among pregnant women on how to nourish their new-born babies, reports ANI.
The All Odisha Kinnar Mahasangh Meera Parida organised a ‘nukkad natak’ (street play) named “NUA MAA” in the tribal areas to apprise women about government schemes for pregnant women and children.
Sixty transgenders participated in the campaign.
