Tensa/Bhubaneswar: TRB Iron Ore Mines of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) in Tensa of Sundergarh district was honoured with the Kalinga Safety Award-2017. The award was conferred at the Odisha State Safety Conclave-2018 held here on Friday. The Institute of Quality & Environment Management Services (IQEMS) organised the two-day event. TRB Mines won the Silver award in the Mines category.
Executive vice president and Group Head (Occupational Health and Safety) Ravi Kant Somani and vice president and Unit Head (TRB Mines) Pramod Kumar Patra received the award from the Governor, Professor Ganeshi Lal. Somani congratulated the TRB Iron Ore Mines team for this award and appreciated it for taking safety initiatives and adopting best safety practices. Congratulating the team, Patra said, “Being recognised with this award is an incredible honour and we couldn’t be more proud. It takes real commitment from all our employees to make our workplace a safe environment and we congratulate our team for all they have achieved.”
This year, The Mine has won a range of awards prior to the Kalinga Safety Award, including the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) award from the Japanese Institute of Plant Maintenance (JIPM) and Pollution Control Appreciation award from the State Pollution Control Board. The Mine has won the Kalinga Safety Award the second time, first earning it in 2017.
