Malkangiri: A tribal girl was allegedly raped by a married man in her house in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.
According to police sources, the girl was alone in her house in MV 80 village under Motu police station in the district on early Sunday morning. Her father had gone for fishing in the village pond while her mother had passed away some time back.
The accused, identified as 26-year-old Ashok Sarkar of the same village, came to know that the girl was alone and forcibly entered her house. He threatened to kill her if she raised her voice for help and raped her. Ashok, who is married, fled after committing the crime.
The 19-year-old girl informed her father about the incident after he returned home. Later, they went to Motu police station and the girl filed the complaint against Ashok.
Sub-inspector Laxmidhar Lenka of the police station told the media that they had registered a rape case and launched a manhunt to trace Ashok who is absconding.
