Kendrapada: The additional district judge court has directed an 85-year-old man to undergo a DNA test to determine if he is the father of a child born to a 15-year-old tribal girl on January 2.
The man, Prafulla Chandra Mohapatra, had allegedly repeatedly raped the girl of a village under Balichandrapur police limits in Odisha’s Jajpur district for five to six months at the house of his son-in-law, a senior OAS officer, at Sailashree Vihar in Bhubaneswar.

The investigating officer had filed a petition in the court last month, urging for DNA profiling of the accused.
Denying the rape charges, the counsel of the accused, Prabir Roy, had opposed it, stating that he was suffering from dementia and old age ailments.
Roy further argued that he was incapable of sexual intercourse. “We are contemplating to challenge the order in the Orissa High Court,” he added.
