Tribal Woman ‘Gangraped’ In Mayurbhanj

Baripada: A tribal woman was allegedly gangraped by four miscreants at Talasahi in Tikayatpur village under Baisingha police limits in Mayurbhanj district on Sunday night.

According to available information, the incident took place at around 12 am when the miscreants barged into her house and raped her. The criminals thrashed the survivor’s father severely when he tried to intervene and fled the spot with an unspecified amount of cash from the house.

“A case has been registered under Sections 457, 394, 397, 376, 506 and 34 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) on the basis of the written complaint lodged by the woman. A team of scientific experts along with dog squad have already visited the spot for investigation. Raids are being conducted at different places in the district and outside to nab the wrongdoers. Meanwhile, the survivor’s medical examination has also been conducted,” informed Baisingha police station inspector-in-charge Krushnachandra Palai.
