Tribals Demand Ol Chilki Language In Schools, Colleges; Stage Rail Roko

Balasore: Train services between Kolkata and Balasore was disrupted on Monday due to the rail roko by the tribals demanding the introduction of Santhali language Ol Chiki in all schools and colleges.

Due to the rail roko, the Secunderabad-Guwahati Superfast Express has been detained at the Jaleswar railway station and Baghajatin Express train and Kharagpur Local train at Basta and Loknath railway stations respectively.

Apart from this, the tribals also staged rail roko at Nekarsuni in West Bengal, reports said.

It may be mentioned that the Santhali Association has been demanding that Ol Chiki language should be taught as Mother India Language the same way as Telugu, Bengali and Urdu since it has been included in the Eighth Schedule of the constitution.
