Kolkata: Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) leader Dr Ashish Pandey was on Friday sent to CBI custody till October 7 by a special CBI court here.
On Thursday, he was arrested by the CBI in connection with a corruption case, involving RG Kar Hospital & Medical College’s former principal Sandip Ghosh. The day also saw protesting students of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital burn his effigy.
Pandey, who is said to be close to Ghosh, was under the probe agency’s scanner and was questioned by the CBI on September 30. used to ensure that tenders for procurement of medical equipment and infrastructure development projects were given to men chosen by Ghosh, the ANI reported quoting sources.
Ghosh was arrested on August 2 in a corruption case amid protests over rape and murder of a resident doctor at RG Kar Hospital & Medical College. Later, CBI booked him in the rape-and-murder case of the 31-year-old junior doctor at the hospital.
