Bhubaneswar: Bodies of 111 victims of June 2 Odisha train accident have been despatched, while 82 more are at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar and DNA test process is underway to resolve disputes among claimants, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange told the media on Thursday.
“We are also coordinating with other state government officials to verify the claimants and speed up the identification process,” he said.
The commissioner further said that the BMC is coordinating between Railways and AIIMS-Bhubaneswar. “Control Room has been set up to assist relatives of the victims. Food and lodging facilities are also being provided to people coming to receive bodies,” he added.
According to information shared by Commerce &Transport Department last night, 84 ambulances have commenced journey to ferry families carrying the mortal remains to their native places and 18 more are on reserve. This apart, 47 children rescued from accident sites were sent home to Bhagalpur, Bihar in a special bus.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had also announced free bus service to Kolkata from Puri Bhubaneswar & Cuttack for stranded passengers till restoration of train services.
