Bhubaneswar: Trouble continues to pile up on Odia actress Varsha Priyadarshini. After marital discord, divorce case and husband Anubhav Mohanty’s repeated allegations on social media, she now faces investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

According to sources, the ED has started investigation into the allegations made by Anubhav that Varsha was evading income tax by using different names in different document.

The ED is verifying the names of Varsha mentioned in the document including PAN card, Aadhaar card, birth certificate and bank accounts to ascertain the allegations. If the allegations are substantiated, the ED may go for questioning the actress, the sources said.

In a letter to the ED Joint Director, Bhubaneswar zonal office on June 7, Anubhav had said, “Varsha Priyadarshini Sahoo alias Barsha Priyadahshanee Sahu or Barsha Priyadarshini Sahoo and with many more names is an actress and social worker from Odisha having different sources of income but has been either not paying taxes or has been paying minimal tax by manipulating figures or evading taxes.”

The Kendrapada MP alleged that Varsha’s name, middle name and surname have been spelt differently in her passport, Aadhaar card and PAN card. The same variation in the spellings was also found in her different bank account, he said, alleging that it was probably done to avoid and evade income tax.

Anubhav also mentioned in the letter that it is not known if Varsha’s NGO has even been registered. “The source of income/funding of the NGO is not known. Whether the accounts are audited or not is not known. In all probability, she is diverting all her black money earned through other or unknown sources into the NGO in order to convert them into white,” he wrote.

Varsha has remained silent on the allegations and is yet to give any statement to the media.
