Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted bail to the former CEO of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC), Partho Dasgupta, who is an accused in the alleged TRP scam.
The HC said Dasgupta shall be released on bail after furnishing a personal bond of Rs 2 lakh and two sureties of the same amount. The court also directed him to surrender his passport and not leave India without permission of the trial court.
Dasgupta was arrested by the Crime Intelligence Unit of Mumbai Police on December 24 last year. Police accused him of internally manipulating TRP of two channels of ARG Outlier Media, the company which owns Republic TV, to show them as the leading channels in their genre.
