Truck Driver Critical After Accident In Paradip

Paradip: Driver of a truck sustained serious injuries after the vehicle was hit by another truck on Atharabanki overbridge in Paradip on Sunday.

He was identified as Prithviraj Mohanty, a resident of Baradia village in Naharana panchayat under Balikuda block of Jagatsinghpur district.

Following the accident, he got trapped in the ill-fated truck and was rescued after an hour-long operation by fire services personnel and police.

The rescue team could pull him out of the vehicle after cutting open a portion of the vehicle with a gas cutter. He had sustained grievous injuries on his leg.

The driver then was rushed to Atharabanki hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Police said that excess consumption of liquor by the victim led to the accident.
