Berhampur: Errors in issuing challans to violators of traffic rules continue to put commuters in a difficult situation.
A truck driver was fined Rs 1,000 for not wearing helmet. The bizarre incident came to light on Wednesday the truck driver went to Regional Transport Office (RTO) to renew his truck’s permit.
As per sources, the challan was issued on December 24, 2020 to the truck owner Pramod Kumar Swain of G Jagannathpur in Ganjam district.
Pramod said to renew the licence he had pay a pending fine which he was unaware of. On inquiry he learnt that he was issued a challan for ‘Driving without helmet’ against the registered number of his truck.
The permit was renewed after payment of fine. Earlier, a truck driver and helper were fined by police for not wearing helmet in Chandikhole area of Jajpur district.
