Nayagarh: A truck driver was shot at by two miscreants while resisting a loot attempt late on Sunday.
The incident occurred at Badagorada under Sarankula police limits in Nayagarh district when two motorcycle-borne assailants intercepted a cement-laden truck and attempted to loot whatever loaded onto it. When the driver tried to stop them, they fired on him and fled the spot.
The victim, identified as Sarat Nayak, sustained bullet injuries in his right hand and shoulder. He was admitted to the district headquarters hospital and later shifted to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar when his condition deteriorated.
Police have started investigating the case on the basis of a complaint lodged by Nayak.
