Bonai: The indefinite strike called by truck owners at Bonai in Sundargarh district on Friday hit the movement of goods, particularly minerals, in the state.
Owing to the strike, a large number of trucks stayed off the roads at different parts of the locality.
“The exorbitant increase in diesel price and daily fluctuations is affecting the truck operators. We are unable to bear maintenance expenses of the trucks due to low freight rate. Despite several requests for increasing the freight rate, the district administration has failed to pay any heed to our demands. So, we have decided not to call off the strike, till our issues are not resolved”, an agitating truck owner said.
Bonai MLA Laxman Munda has extended his support to the strike.
