Bhadrak: Helper of an iron ore-laden truck died while the driver sustained injuries after being hit by a hyva while repairing a flat tyre alongside the main road in Basudevpur area of Bhadrak district late on Tuesday.
The accident took place near Mandari Chakk when the iron ore-laden trailer, en route to Dhamra from Koenjhar, halted after it suffered a flat tyre. As the driver and the helper were changing the tyre, a speeding chips-laden Hyva rammed into the trailer. The helper died on the spot under the impact of the collision while injured driver was rushed to Basudevpur community health centre by locals for treatment.
The identity of the deceased and the injured is yet to be ascertained.
On being informed, a team from Chudamani Marine Police station reached the spot and launched a probe.
