Truck hits morning walkers killing two in Jharsuguda

Jharsuguda: In a tragic incident, two morning walkers were killed and another suffered critical injuries when a speeding truck ploughed into them on National Highway-49 at Shiva Mahima Chhak under Belapahad in Jharsuguda district on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Buddhiram Patel (22) and Nakula Chhatria (22). Nitesh Chhatria, who was injured in the accident, was rushed to VIMSAR in Burla in a critical condition.

Following the accident, hundreds of local residents staged a blockade by placing the bodies near the accident spot and demanded better traffic management and deployment of adequate traffic personnel in the area.
