Dhenkanal: A mother-son duo died after being run over by a truck while sleeping at Kuturia Jatra Ground in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district late on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Runu Pradhan and Lipu Pradhan of Belabasanta village.
According to sources, the accident took place when the two were sleeping at the ground along with other family members, who had a close shave and escaped unhurt. Runu was rushed to Parjang hospital where she breathed her last and Lipu succumbed to his injuries at Kamakshyanagar hospital.
The driver of the truck fled the spot after the accident. Police have started an investigation.
