Jajpur: A truck mowed down a young woman who was out for a morning near Ketakia Chhak under Jajpur Sadar police limits on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Barsarani Jena.
Barsarani was out for a walk accompanied by her friend early on Friday morning when a concrete chips-loaded truck ran over her. The driver and helper managed to escape leaving the vehicle on the spot.
Following the accident, locals rushed her to the district headquarters hospital (DHH), where doctors declared her brought dead.
Enraged over the incident, locals gathered in large numbers and blocked the road with woods that disrupted vehicular movements.
Sadar police immediately rushed to the spot and were seen pacifying the agitators till the last report came in.
