Sarankul: Six persons, including two women and a child, were mowed down by a Hyva truck near Sarankul School in Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Tuesday afternoon.
According to sources, the truck initially hit two women while they were taking a walk at Chuda Mill Sahi of the town, killing them on the spot. It then speedily moved into Sarankul bazaar and rammed into an under-construction house at Suara Sahi. Three male persons were killed at the mishap site and one child at Suara Sahi sustained critical injuries.
The victims succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital.
The driver of the Hyva, however, managed to escape from the spot soon after the mishap. Police along with Fire Service personnel have reached the spot and launched an investigation.
