Jeypore: Residents of Bhejaput village under Sunabeda police limits of Koraput district blockaded the Semiliguda-Sunabeda road on Saturday morning after a sand-laden truck rammed into a house killing three sleeping members of a family late on Friday night.
Vehicular traffic between Semiliguda and Sunabeda was disrupted as a result. Senior police and district officials have rushed to the spot to pacify the residents, who were demanding compensation for family members of the dead.
The accident took place around 1.45-2am, when the driver of the truck lost control. He fled soon after the accident.
The dead have been identified as Anand Khosla, his wife Padma and their eight-year-old daughter Jyoshnarani. Their seriously injured minor son was rushed to the district headquarters hospital. The truck has been seized and a manhunt launched to nab the driver.
